A license plate holder according to the invention comprises at least one holder with a substantially flat base plate, with a first clamping wall, which extends from a first edge of the base plate substantially perpendicularly from the base plate and is formed integrally with the base plate, with a second clamping wall which extends from a second edge of the base plate opposite the first edge of the base plate and parallel to the first clamping wall and is formed in one piece with the base plate, and with at least one recess into which a fastening element for fastening the at least one holder to a vehicle can be inserted is characterized in that the first clamping wall extends over the entire length of the first edge of the base plate and comprises a first clamping groove which extends at a distance and parallel to the base plate over the entire length of the first clamping wall and that di e second clamping wall extends over the entire length of the second edge of the base plate and comprises a second clamping groove which extends in alignment with the first clamping groove over the entire length of the second clamping wall.
